The Hiking Club Toppfarar hiking to see the volcanic eruption from the glacier Eyjafjallajökull. This is the 11th of 13 videos; in this one we are at the waterfalls of lava where the stream of hot lava streams from the craters dowh to ravine Hrunagil. This was a splendid day with the sun shining, little wind and temperature from +1° in the beginning and down to -10°C up there with a strong wind in the back on the way down. We hiked total of 38,5 km for 13:20 hours (incl. 4 hours stay at the volcano) up to 1.051 m with a ascendance of 1.030 m or total ascendance of 1.900 m the whole way. Participants were total of 42 including us guides or 32 members of Toppfarar and 10 guests. Three got a lift by car down again but the other 29 hiked he whole way which was an ordeal, and note that two of the participants were 73 and 70 years old (very fit members of the club!). We started at noon, hiked for 5:30 hours up to the volcano, we took 4 hours to see us around the craters and streams of lava (we could have stayed all night!) and hiked down again for over 3:45 hours so we were back to the cars at 01:30 in the night. We arrived at the volcanos at daylight, watched them until twilight and in to the night as darkness took over. The view and the experience is very different from daylight – twilight – darkness – and …
