Sugarcubes – Birthday (Icelandic version) Since the Icelandic volcano (Eyjafjallajökull) erupted on April 14th 2010 and sent a huge cloud of ash eastward, we’ve enjoyed light hazy blue skies with sunshine and no formed clouds here in western Europe. The area of ‘clear sky’ is similar to the area where all planes are grounded. Is the unusual sky and lack of clouds due to the presence of volcanic ash or is it due to the absence of jet propelled aircraft? We do sometimes get unusually good weather at this time of year but the sky right now is a strange light blue dome. It could be that people – including me – are looking up at the daytime sky more than usual but instinct tells be otherwise.
