Earthquake hit Japan on Friday, Triggering 10 meters Tsunamis Northeastern Japan has been hit by a huge tsunami, thought to have been caused by an earthquake which struck about 400km (250 miles) from Tokyo and measuring 8.9 on the Richter scale.
