Unique, historic one of a kind film of the most dramatic volcanic phenomenon of the 1959 eruption of Kilauea volcano on the island of Hawaii. A rare and beautiful restored government produced film. Each of the 4 chapters I’ve posted contain excellent educational value because of excellent review of the science by the USGS and because of the unique, spectacular and historic filmed sequences of Hawaiian volcanism.
to non believer in one god this is jus a taste of the real fire of the hell as in just the smoke no your creator nature is in control by the almighty n just a hint just because your parents are christians, hindus, jewish, and catholic, muslim and etc you don’t have to be atleast without knowing the true religion or some type of lil knowledge n my conclusion is islam is the truth if you do ur research with an open mind.
idiots idiots idiots if science is all smart why can’t we stop so called mother nature just think allah gave u brain or if you wanna call him god
i would pay good money to watch this live.

Did anyone then capture the sound this made?
6:30 !
and 5:40
Sooo awesome!
i really want to go inside kilauea
@Envergure,
Viscosity varies greatly, but one of the first analogs for the three types of plate boundaries; divergent, convergent, and transform was observed in lava lakes in Hawaii. As the surface of the lake cools, it breaks into “plates” which interact. Most interesting, and related to your question, are the subduction zones; where one plate of cooled lava dives beneath another. Remember the incredible temperatures involved as well.
If I’m not mistaken, molten lava is less dense than solid rock (unlike water, where the solid phase is lighter than the liquid.) So, why does the cooled surface of the lava not sink?
yes. kilauea has been erupting from 1959 until today. i doubt that it has stopped erupting… keep up the steady flow of lava, kilauea! =p
Waoooww
LAVA BURST
i managed to watch kilauea errupt in person when i was over in hawaii windsurfing…was a great thing to watch
Madam Pele’
Serpents of smouldering cinders crawled slowly to the sea,
The power of Madam Pele is finally unleashed finally set free,
As the Mauna Loa spewed relentlessly through the Hawaiian night,
Bathing the island in a zesty tangerine glow; so angry and bright,
Threatening anyone who may get in the way of her dancing path,
Warning distant ships and Oceans to be cautious of her wrath.

The other 3 chapters are in HQ…I think YouTube will eventually get around to converting this one sooner or later..
holy moley.
too bad no HQ.
i really wish my voice sounded like that!
At 6.40 sounded like a rocket blasting off.
blaaaaaaaah i want a flick for my PP, not a soap voice!
fuckin rad
I remember hearing about the eruption and seeing some footage on TV when I was very small. We should be very happy that Mike put these on here for us to see how these types of volcanos behave and how the islands of Hawai’i formed over many 10’s of millions of years. Cool!
absolutely remarkable.
6:44..wow!
08:38 ! wow
That’s so strange looking it almost looks fake.
Volcanos are fascinating!
I’m currently trying to recreate a volcanic eruption as a computer special effect, so this footage is really interesting for me
