Icelandic Volcano affects Car Industry

With flights across Britain grounded again, after a brief respite on Monday, travel plans across the globe have been impacted and thousands of travellers have either been stranded abroad, or missed their flights away and are now trapped within the country. The British economy has taken a bashing, and shares in British Airways and Virgin Atlantic have plummeted.
But news today suggests that the car industry is also being impacted by the ash clouds that have spread across the North of the world, and show no signs of relenting. Nissan has announced that it is going to have to suspend production of some vehicles in its Japanese factories, which produce the majority of Nissan’s for the world, as they are having trouble importing the pressure sensors that they use, from Ireland. The only other alternative is by ship, which takes nearly ten times the travel time, and will most likely arrive after the volcanic ash has gone.
BMW are also reported to be having problems, as the majority of parts are shipped, by air, from Germany to their Spartanberg plant.
Car rental companies, however, are reporting increases in sales, as all those people that are stuck are having to extend the time they are renting their car for. The other industry that seems to be striving is the Eurostar and ferry companies, who are experiencing high bookings, and even sell outs on a lot of their services.
We should thank our lucky stars that there is currently no ash falling over the UK. A hazard like this could cause danger to drivers, and potentially result in accidents and Car Insurance claims.

In recent years the UK police forces have adopted high performance vehicles to target people who speed and put other motorists lives in danger. They have been known to cruise around in unmarked Subaru and Porsches to catch criminals off their guards. But the west midlands police can now claim that they have the fastest car in the police force in their fleet after Lotus donated a new Evora to the team.

They are the stuff dreams are made of, cars that are synonymous with films that we watched as children and make us think of particular films. Whether it is the DeLorean from Back to the Future or the Jeep from Jurassic Park, these cars are what we often remember most when we think of our childhood favourites. And favourite films are something we hold with us for our lives, so it makes sense that the cars will be too.

Clocking The Meter In Used Cars
Car clocking is a worrying habit that sees rogue traders winding the car mileage meters back, so it looks like a vehicle has done far less miles than it actually has. The practice has been a well knwon and often used tactic for decades to make unsuspecting buyers pay over the odds for cars, but if the most recent research by the BBC is anything to go by, they are becoming far more common and there are now as many as one in seven of these vehicles on our roads.

it’s easy to get frustrated if you get points on your licence, as the loss of the licence could impact greatly on your life; meaning that you would have to rely on lifts and other forms of public transport to get from a to b quickly and easily. Some people who lose their licence never re apply for it after the time has passed, so worried that they will get reliant on that small scrap of card.
